I started with piano lessons at a young age, and taught myself drums around the same time. Despite singing since birth, I began vocal training and endeavoring in musical theater and barbershop in high school. I studied classically at the University of Central Arkansas and performed in opera productions, including Menotti’s “The Telephone“ and “Hansel and Gretel,” as well as with UCA’s Concert and Chamber choirs. Upon moving to Arizona to study Audio Engineering, I rediscovered barbershop by finding the Phoenicians Barbershop Chorus and the mixed chorus Southwest Vocal Alliance, as well as singing with quartets including Intonation (alongside fellow Syndicate owner T-Bone) and Out of the Ashes (AZ Division’s Novice Quartet Champions of 2019). There is also a new quartet I am singing bass with Phantom in called Momentum. Wow, that sounds busy! I am delighted to share A Cappella Syndicate’s fun and passion with you all!

I've been singing all my life. As a kid, my family sang 5-part harmony in the car driving cross country. I sang in church growing up and in every school choir group there was. I sang in a men's glee club in college, then didn't do much until I discovered barbershop in 1976, joined the next year, and the rest is history! I've sung with the local chorus wherever I've lived since then and was a charter member of a new chorus (Biloxi Miss, 1982). I'm currently with my third quartet and have sung for such notable directors as Ron Black, Mac Huff and Gary Steinkamp. I'll sing until they put me in the ground!

My musical background started with piano lessons in elementary school. I became involved with church choir and musical theater during my high school years, and became a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society as a young adult after graduating from college. Since then, I've been involved with several choruses and quartets including the Phoenicians and Equinox. I currently sing bass with The Associates.

It was auditioning for West Side Story that others decided I could sing... well. As I sang my audition, I noted it was going longer than most. The director said I could stop and the accompnist said, "Does he have to?" After that, I was in All State Choir for two years in HS, numerous musicals in HS and college and the Notre Dame Glee Club for two years where I got to tour Europe. I had always enjoyed the barbershop sound but never had the opportunity to sing it until I was discovered by a friend of my neighbor who Sang with the Denver Tech, Sound of the Rockies. When I moved to t\Arizona, I sought out the best group in the area and decided Acappella Syndicate was a great choice.

I’ve been a musician since elementary school, but entered the a cappella world in 2001 after a chance encounter with a one-man, cowboy band while vacationing in Southeastern Utah. After singing a few songs together, the man encouraged me to get involved with the Phoenicians barbershop chorus in Phoenix. I’ve been singing ever since (lead/tenor) in chorus and several competitive quartets, including at the international level.

I love to sing. There is nothing like the feeling when you sing your part, listen as it joins with the other parts around you, and you are inside the music. I sang in my high school choir and a little bit in college. Then took a 20+ year break from singing. In 2007, I found my way to a cappella singing. I first sang with the Spirit of Phoenix and then joined A Cappella syndicate in 2017.

I didn't start singing till my last year of high school where I discovered I had a voice. I studied Vocal performance at Cal State Northridge. I travelled with an Opera a ala Carte for 10 years in the 90's. I sang several roles in the theater including Nanki-Poo in the Mikado, Raphe in HMS Pinafore, Frederic in the Pirates of Penzance and Tony in the West Side Story. I starting singing barbershop in the late 90's with the Masters of Harmony. It's been an interesting ride transitioning from the singing style of Opera to the barbershop style.

I joined church choir at 14 as an alto. I didn't find barbershop until age 42 (wish it had been earlier). I have sung in 10 choruses, and three quartets; gaining 4 chorus medals, division novice quartet champ, and division senior quartet champ. One of my greatest joys was singing on the stage at Carnegie Hall. I love singing with A Cappella Syndicate because we are family. We have much love between us and it shows on stage.

Whether it is Hungarian folk tunes, American Jewish music, Broadway show tunes, or contemporary a cappella, I sing it all. I continually seek opportunities to be on stage or backstage. After performing with the award-winning Great Expectations show choir in high school, I taught Jewish music to children at the Hillel at Ohio University. I am honored to be one of the performance coaches of the Syndicate. My first quartet, Scoop 'Em Up, won the Novice Championship at the division and district levels. Currently, I am privileged to sing with The Associates quartet.

I was born into a musical family. My uncles could play a mean trumpet, my Aunt is a piano player extraordinaire, and my Dad, boy could he sing. He is the one responsible for my barbershop membership. My dad and I have been in several quartets such as, ARIZONA and Four Gone Collusion. I currently sing in a great quartet called Heat Wave. Growing up I sang with the Paradise Valley Cactus Chordsment and then the Phoenicians chorus.
